Kick off the new year with Actionbound: Tips for New Year's Eve escape games and midnight rallies

New Year's Eve is just around the corner and so is the perfect opportunity to try out some new games! With Actionbound, you can easily create exciting escape games and midnight rallies for your friends and family. Here are some tips to make your New Year's Eve party unforgettable:

Preparation is key

Before you start, think of a theme or storyline for your game. An escape game might revolve around solving a specific task, while a midnight rallye could include various tasks and stations leading up to the countdown at midnight. A well-thought-out story ensures fun, excitement, and even more anticipation for the new year!

New Year's Eve Escape Game

If you want to create your own escape game, here are some ideas to get you started:

1. Time travel adventure
Send your players on a journey through the past year, 2024, and create puzzles related to significant events of the year.

Example: Which musician held 10 concerts in Munich/Germany? Take a video of you trying to sing one of her most famous songs :)

2. Spy mission
Participants become secret agents on a crucial mission. Encoded messages, secret meeting points, and hidden gadgets add to the thrill!

Example: Design your Bound so that in the end, a message needs to be deciphered to prevent secret information from falling into the “wrong hands.”

3. Magical adventure
Players choose their favorite magician and solve a mystical puzzle. They need to mix potions, invent spells, and then guess who created which magic potion in the group.

Example: Send your players on a magical tour ending with a tasting of their self-created drinks!

Prefer a midnight rallye?

If you prefer something more active (maybe even outdoors), you can create your individual midnight rallye with the following elements:

  • Photo challenges: Challenge the group to take funny or themed photos.

  • Quiz questions: Ask questions about the past year or about your friendship and family.

  • Mini-games: Include small games like charades or lead-pouring to keep things interesting.

  • Code breakers: Hide clues and codes around your home or garden that players need to crack to advance.

  • Combination tasks: Have players combine various objects or solve tasks to find the next clue.

    Conduct a test run

Perform a test run – this ensures all tasks are solvable, and the Bound works smoothly. Additionally, you can make final adjustments to optimize the gameplay experience.

    The big countdown

Plan for your game to end just before midnight. The final task could be to start a countdown or find a hidden treasure – perhaps a bottle of champagne – to toast the new year.

We wish you lots of fun creating and a fantastic start to the new year! Happy New Year and enjoy Actionbound!
