Preparing download

Actionbound Helpdesk

What do you want to know?

With the premium feature Ticketing, you can set up restricted access to a Bound to allow playing only with a valid code – perfect for exclusive events, commercial offers, or closed educational projects.

How it works

  • Activate Ticketing in the settings of your Bound under the premium features.
  • In the newly appeared Ticket Management tab, determine whether you want to import your own ticket codes or have codes generated automatically.
  • In the overview of valid tickets, download the individual QR codes or the entire list as a CSV file.
  • Distribute the codes or QR codes digitally or in printed form to your players.
  • When starting the Bound, players scan the QR code or enter the code manually. After activation, the ticket is automatically validated.

Activating Ticketing

How Ticketing is activated depends on how the feature was unlocked for your account:

  • As part of a license: Go to the Settings of the desired Bound and activate Ticketing under the Premium Features.
  • Activated for individual Bounds: If Ticketing was unlocked separately for a specific Bound, it is already activated by default in the Settings.

As soon as Ticketing has been activated for the Bound, a new Ticket Management button appears on your Bound dashboard. You can use this area to create, manage, or download individual tickets for the Bound.

Creating Tickets

Once Ticketing is activated for the Bound, there are two ways to create ticket codes:

Importing ticket codes

This option allows you to create your own custom ticket codes. You can enter the tickets manually or copy them from your own list.

  • Enter one ticket code per line.
  • You can use letters, special characters, or numbers.
  • Click on Import codes to confirm.

Please note

If codes are entered manually, they should be as simple as possible to make typing easier on mobile device keyboards.

Generating ticket codes

This option automatically generates your desired number of ticket codes.

  • The automatically generated codes consist of a secure combination of letters, special characters, and numbers.
  • Click on Generate codes to confirm.
  • If desired, the ticket codes can be downloaded directly as a CSV file during the creation process.

Valid Tickets

Once the ticket codes have been created, they are listed under Valid Tickets. In this section, you can also display the QR code for individual tickets or download a file containing all ticket codes as well as the URLs for the QR codes.

Downloading Ticket Codes

There are two ways to download the created ticket codes for further processing:

Downloading individual QR codes

  • Clicking the download button opens the QR code of the respective ticket in a new window.
  • To download the QR code, right-click and select Save image as…

Downloading the entire list as a CSV file

By clicking the button, you will receive an Excel-compatible file:

  • Column A contains the ticket code for manual entry.
  • Column B contains the link that redirects players directly to the Bound start page.
  • Tip: You can use this link to create QR codes in your own layout using external online tools (e.g., for free via qrcode-generator.de).

Sharing and Redeeming of Tickets

Ticket codes can be distributed to players either in printed form or online (via email, messenger, etc.).

Please note

Each ticket can only be used once. Make sure not to send tickets multiple times.

Redeeming ticket codes

When prompted for the ticket code on their mobile device, players have two options:

  • Scan the QR code of the respective ticket.
  • Enter the ticket code manually.

Please note

Once a ticket code has been entered, the ticket is validated – even if the Bound is aborted prematurely afterwards.

Validated Tickets

Tickets that have already been redeemed are now displayed under Validated Tickets and disappear from the overview of Valid Tickets. This allows you to keep track of activity at all times.

Deactivating Ticketing

If you want to make the Bound freely accessible to everyone again without a code prompt, the procedure differs depending on how it was activated:

  • Ticketing as part of a license: In the Settings, Ticketing can be switched off at any time using the Deactivate Ticketing button.
  • Ticketing unlocked for individual Bounds: If the feature was booked individually for the Bound, please contact our support team at support@actionbound.com to deactivate it.

Use Cases

Ticketing is ideal for scenarios where you want to secure the exclusivity of your Bound or control participant numbers precisely.

Example: Commercial City Rally or Museum Guide
You want to offer a guided tour or scavenger hunt as a paid event. Players buy a ticket through your own website or at the ticket counter on-site. After payment, you hand them one of the generated ticket codes (or the printed QR code). Since each code is automatically validated when the Bound starts, it is guaranteed that each booking can only use the Bound once.
